“I come out of the subway station at Kleistpark and I cross the street, walking by buildings as I make my way to the spot in the park. Here in Berlin you could see them, they worked here at the same time, and they met in public spaces. They are the women of the war generations – one after a great war, one from during a war, and another again afterwards – my great-grandmother and Rosa Luxemburg, my grandmother with Hannah Arendt, my mother like Alice Schwarzer. And on Fridays I walk with you.”
This year’s theme, A Femmes City, will deal with the feminine view of various aspects of the city. How does urban space appear from a women’s perspective, what potential is overlooked, and what development possibilities are held in public space? Who does the city belong to?
This exhibition series will investigate artistic processes and performative guidelines made with female hands in public spaces.
Most people of all walks of life, sexes, and age groups are interested in fashion. Frau Wagner uses this for her artistic cross coutureprojects. For 12 years she has worked with controversial topics such as carbon footprints, working conditions, or waste management with diverse groups across society.
In the Police Uniform Project, together with the Modeschule Berlin, terms of an open society such as justice, equality, and freedom are handled artistically. Contemporary facets and possibilities for community, tolerance, and trust in our society are depicted in the current collection of Frau Wagner .
