November 2023\, 18 – 22 Uhr \nStatements \nKatharina Reich baut Soziale Plastiken. Ihr Material: Sammlungen verschiedener Art – Gegenstände\, ihre Verwendung\, ihre Sprache\, ihre Geschichte\, beschafft durch Tausch\, Leihgabe\, Fund. Das Sammeln\, Ordnen und Umordnen schafft einen Raum\, um eine neue Auseinandersetzung mit Herkunft und Geschichte anzustoßen. \nSaeed Foroghi: „Gibst du mir einen künstlerischen Kuss?“ Diese Frage stellte mir meine Mutter\, als ich fünf war. Für sie begann die Kunst im Film – nämlich dort\, wo das wirkliche Leben endet. In meiner künstlerischen Praxis setze ich mit der Frage „Wann ist Kunst“ statt „Was ist Kunst“ auseinander und dabei erforsche ich das Verhältnis zwischen „Kunst“ und der „Wirklichkeit“. \nEnglish \nKatharina Reich makes “social sculptures”. Her métier is all manner of collections: objects whose use\, language and stories are drawn from swaps\, loans and refuse. By gathering\, arranging and rearranging\, she creates spaces that prompt new forms of engaging with origins and histories. \nSaeed Foroghi: “Would you give me an artistic kiss?” my mother asked when I was five. For her\, art began in films – namely there\, where real life ends. In my own practice of art\, I have addressed the question “When is art?” instead of “What is art?”\, and thereby examined the relationship between “art” and “reality”. \n  \nBiografien \nKatharina Reich (* 1987 in Tjumen\, Westsibirien) ist 1996 nach Deutschland umgesiedelt und zählt zu den sogenannten Russlanddeutschen. Mit Elementen aus Kitsch\, Machtphänomenen und geometrischen Körpern baut sie raumgreifende Soziale Plastiken. Sie studierte von 2010 bis 2016 Bildende Kunst an der Kunsthochschule Kassel bei Prof. Norbert Radermacher\, von dem sie zur Meisterschülerin ernannt wurde. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. \nWebseite: katharinareich.de \nSaeed Foroghi wurde im Jahr 1977 in Kerman / Iran geboren. Nach seinem Studium der Architektur an der IUST in Teheran (1996-2003) begann er 2005 an der HfBK Dresden sein zweites Studium im Bereich Malerei und Grafik und schloss dort mit dem Sommersemester 2014 sein Meisterschülerstudium im Fachbereich Bildende Künste in der Fachklasse von Professor Martin Honert erfolgreich ab. A subtle melancholy surfaces\, related to solitude and to the pervasive sensation that comes with incessantly seeking out the other\, which will invariably lead us back to our own feelings of confusion. \nThis emotion\, at times\, distilled in crescendos\, other times entirely withheld\, proffers a dreamlike narrative diffracted between the real and the imaginary\, between a mental projection and the image projected. At times\, the past is conjugated into the present or is tuned to the unfathomable time called the future. Strange but familiar\, the visited places seem unchanging\, the living unreachable\, introspective\, or absorbed in gestures that attest to their presence in the world. \nA visual chorale\, Song Circle is crosscut with synaptic sound. The musical score is a protagonist\, embodied as much by the instruments as by the musicians. Meticulously deconstructed to infiltrate and even dominate the ambient sounds\, music brings friction between those spaces and times which ignore each other\, enabling furtive encounters\, bringing people together with no other purpose than the passage of time kept in beat by the metronome. \nSong Circle goes everywhere\, except in a straight line. Its convolutions\, like circles in the water\, echo without ever touching\, listening to better see and looking without hearing\, all in an infinite loop. From such ellipses emerges a work of profound humanity\, from which no one will retain quite the same thing. Alone\, together. — F.C. \nAnne-Renée Hotte completed a master’s degree in visual and media arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal (2016)\, following a bachelor’s degree in photography from Concordia University (2010). Her work has been presented a.o. at the Musée d’art contemporain des Laurentides (St-Jérôme)\, the Musée des beaux arts de Sherbrooke\, Galerie Artem (France)\, Galerie de l’UQÀM (Montréal)\, Volta New York. Recipient of the PRIM-Dazibao residency\, which led to the realization of Song Circle.
