DESCRIPTION:Für die Ausstellung RUNNING WITH THE FOX hat Tim Cierpiszewski eine Wandarbeit konzipiert\, die sich über die Außenfassade des Berliner Ausstellungsraums Axel Obiger erstreckt und so den gewohnten Blick durch das Fenster des Ladenlokals konterkariert. Die spezifische Architektur wird mit einem Mural aus diversen Bild-Samplings und Remixen „markiert“. Hier verquickt Cierpiszewski einmal mehr den digitalen Raum des Internets mit dem physischen Ausstellungsraum und dessen sozialen und ökonomischen Strukturen. \nFor the exhibition RUNNING WITH THE FOX\, Tim Cierpiszewski designed a mural that extends over the outer facade of the Berlin exhibition space Axel Obiger and thus counteracts the usual view through the window of the shop. The specific architecture is “marked” with a mural consisting of various picture-samplings and remixes. Here Cierpiszewski once again merges the digital space of the Internet with the physical exhibition space and its social and economic structures.

 with a text by Stefan Ewald \nIn her solo show POINT BLANK\, Julia Charlotte Richter presents three related video works that form a poetic dramaturgy. \n„Julia Charlotte Richter’s art transcends the individual; she employs an archetypal symbolism that stimulates the unconscious and makes concealed emotions resonate. Although we feel like we „understand“ the protagonists of her video works\, we cannot quite grasp what is going on inside them. Images of newer omnipresent superheroes or Transformers from contemporary computer games are slipped in. Avatars\, like icons\, exist to be venerated and to create an existential connection between the viewer (or user) and that which is portrayed. One often also uses masks\, shells\, and armor to remain anonymous. \nAlim Pasht-Han explores the Japanese tradition of armor called ō-yoroi. Historians have found parallels between the samurai codex and the traditions of Circassian warriors from his homeland. Despite the relatively light construction of yoroi\, the defensive properties of the armor is highly complex. Most historical martial arts had techniques to defeat an opponent in armor. Armor breaker. These weaponless techniques target breaking the “skeleton” of the armor to unbalance the fighter. \nThe installation is made up of a delicate interplay between attacking\, armor\, defense\, security\, and vulnerability. Alim Pasht-Han’s artificial armor is made out of fragile porcelain. Individual objects\, modules\, handcrafted set pieces\, and industrial prefabricated forms yield an overall artistic composition. The theatrical sacred presentation underlines the character of the glass showcase. \nAlim Pasht-Han engages with sculpture\, installation\, and graphic design and since 2006 has made a number of artworks out of porcelain. Juli 2021\nMontag bis Freitag\, 10 – 17 Uhr\nEmser Str. 124 Ecke Ilsestr. \nPassend zum Festival 48h Neukölln mit dem Thema Luft entwirft der Künstler mit Bildern aus der Alchemie und aus Märchen eine eigene Ikonographie\, mit der die Luft als Sphäre der Transformation verstanden wird – sei es wissenschaftlich\, sozial\, physiologisch\, physisch oder magisch.\nDer Jungschen Psychologie nach sind sowohl die Alchemie als auch Märchen mit Möglichkeiten zur Transformation verbunden. Die Ausstellung bringt Bilder wie das alchemistische Symbol der Luft oder die Eule aus Grimms Märchen\, das hier in queerer Lesart gedeutet wird\, zusammen\, um eine neue transformatorische Bewegung zu initiieren. \n  \n\nPart of the festival 48 Stunden Neukölln \n„When referencing Air I immediately identify the arcane elemental symbolism of alchemy\, air\, fire\, water and earth. The triangle dissected by a horizontal bar represents air within the elemental symbols employed to evoke the alchemist’s esoteric ritualistic practice. This desire to facilitate a change of state the quest for transformation identifies the core theme for this body of work. \nJungian psychology states alchemy is a personal journey of transformation and an instinctive impulse for growth. Fairy tales are considered the purest and simplest expression of collective unconscious providing a potent departure point for oneiric travel.\nIn Grimm’s Fairy Tale No. 174: The Owl\, oxygen feeds the flames engulfing the barn sheltering the giant owl\, transforming all to ash. Unpacking this fairytale through a queer lens\, we find control\, violence motivated by fear of the other.\nJungian psychology also offers us archetypes including The Fool or Jester\, the shape shifting trickster\, serves as a transformer and culture hero\, morally ambiguous\, who creates order out of chaos by invoking change. One of the Major Arcana cards in the tarot deck and a consistent presence in folklore and mythology. Till Eulenspiegel is one such incarnation often depicted with an owl and mirror\, this imagery has been assimilated into my personal iconography. \nThe overriding theme is that of transformation\, whether scientific\, social\, physiological\, physical or magical. Through the process of becoming originals are created resulting in a Simulacra.“ Andrew Thomas
