SUMMARY:Plastic Fantastic
DESCRIPTION:Plastic Fantastic\nExhibition: 23 October – 4 December 2026 \nNanoplastics in our brains\, plastic in the Arctic. Our practical\, durable helper is everywhere\, and production volumes are rising. As a product of the fossil-fuel industry\, plastic pollutes nature as waste and through its breakdown products\, while nano- and microplastics enter our bodies. Recycling does not work. We must reduce plastic volumes worldwide and switch to safe materials. \nWhat does this mean for people\, and what can we do? Who is actively working against the problem? \nArtists\n23 artists present objects\, video\, installation\, performance\, and painting: \nTom Albrecht\, Sandra Becker\, Carsten Borck\, Manuela J. Covini\, Marita Czepa\, Kuesti Fraun\, Stephan Groß\, Shivkumar KV\, Maria Korporal\, Heike Krause\, Thomas Möller\, Sibylle Möndel\, Annegret Müller\, Thomas Neumaier\, Bodo Niggemann\, Dodi Reifenberg\, Robin Romanski\, Petra Steeger\, Andrea Striesova\, Mark Swysen\, Alina Tofan\, Andrea Übelacker\, Ruzica Zajec \nProgramme\n23 October 2026\, 7 pm — Vernissage\nWelcome: Tom Albrecht\nIntroduction to the exhibition: Katja Hock\nFiddle & folk music\, “What Lasts”: Lyn Shuck \nTuesday\, 27 October\, 7 pm — Talk and discussion: “Stopping the Plastic Flood. Avoiding Waste in Everyday Life”\nKaren Pastofski\, Plastikwende Friedenau\, Berlin. \nApproaches to counteracting the plastic crisis:\n“Plastic-free food for everyone!” — This is the demand of the civil-society alliance Exit Plastik in a petition to the German federal government\, in the interest of protecting public health. Micro- and nanoplastics\, as well as chemicals from plastic packaging\, can migrate into our food—and therefore into our bodies. Plastic-free shopping must not be a luxury: it must be accessible and affordable for everyone. Watch the campaign video and sign the petition here: https://exit-plastik.de/lebensmittel-ohne-plastik/\nManifesto for a #PlasticTransition. Now! https://exit-plastik.de/plastikwende/ \nFriday\, 30 October\, 7 pm — Performance: “The Last Plastic: Myths\, Fossils and Codes of a Bygone Era”\nM. J. Covini \nFriday\, 6 November\, 7 pm — Artists’ Conversation\nArtists from the exhibition talk with guests about their works. SUMMARY:SUPERSOFTSKILLS
DESCRIPTION:SUPERSOFTSKILLS \nEröffnung\nFreitag\, 2. \nAXEL OBIGER . The exhibition brings together skills that elude conventional assessment and yet prove decisive: sustaining observation to the point of instability\, rerouting existing systems\, embracing detour as method\, and allowing contradictions to remain unresolved. Eight artistic practices reveal how these approaches allow forms to take shape through processes that resist immediate interpretation. \nAXEL OBIGER – Raum für zeitgenössische Kunst . SUMMARY:UNRELIABLE NARRATORS
DESCRIPTION:UNRELIABLE NARRATORS\n(Scroll down for the English version) \nAxel Obiger freut sich\, 2026 die Teilnahme am B-LA-M Festival fortzusetzen. \nTeilnehmende KünstlerInnen: \nSergio Aguilera (MX)\, Susanne Britz (DE)\, Liz Dawson (DE)\, Vivian Eckstein (DE)\, Cathy Ellis (US)\, Thilo Droste (DE)\, Saeed Foroghi (DE)\, Paola Gómez (MX)\, Nathalie Grenzhaeuser (DE)\, Harriet Groß (DE)\, Andrea J. This year\, the rotating exchange will take place in Los Angeles\, California\, where city-wide exhibitions will be accompanied by a trans-disciplinary program of screenings\, performances\, readings\, exhibition tours\, and more. LA-based Open Mind Art Space\, Taller de Gráfica Nahual from Mexico City and Berlin’s Axel Obiger will present a group exhibition titled UNRELIABLE NARRATORS. \nAn opening reception for the exhibition will be held at Work Room DTLA located on the 5th floor of the Bendix Building in Downtown LA on Saturday\, October 31 from 7–10 PM \nBendix Building – Work Room DTLA\n1206 Maple Ave\nSuite 502A\nLos Angeles\, CA 90015 \nThe exhibition will be on view by appointment only from November 1–3. \nhttps://openmindartspace.com/\nhttps://tallernahual.com/\nhttps://www.axelobiger.com/ \nB-LA-M Los Angeles will run from October 28 – November 4\, 2026. More information about the exchange and schedule of events can be found at: https://www.b-la-m.org/ \nAbout the exhibition \nThe international art project Unreliable Narrators takes its title from a concept in literary theory and narratology. The term refers to a person or narrative voice whose account cannot be trusted and is revealed over the course of a story to be untrue. \nThe collaboration explores the fragility of assertions and information that characterizes our time. Each stage of the works involves responding to what is already there\, reinterpreting and transforming it. \nIn the project\, digital images are created collaboratively from three different color layers by three different artists. The process begins in Berlin (red)\, continues in Mexico City (green)\, and concludes in Los Angeles (blue). At each stage\, the challenge is to examine\, continue\, and add to the narrative of the supposedly “unreliable narrator\,” that is\, the image layer or layers that have already been created in a predesignated color. This process requires each participant to exercise empathy and trust in a final outcome that everyone can accept. \nIn all the works\, the three levels intertwine and overlap\, although the contribution of each artist remains visible. \nOnce completed\, the pieces will be printed in Los Angeles on large\, vertically oriented fabric banners and exhibited for the first time. Their physical form makes tangible the digital\, intercontinental journey of the works across three countries and cities. As a contemporary form of mail art\, they respond to the current phenomenon of deglobalization\, shaped by mistrust\, self-interest\, and political and administrative restrictions. In the face of the uncertainty created by this development\, the artists’ international collaboration offers an alternative approach based on trust\, communication\, and innovation. \nParticipating Artists: \nSergio Aguilera (MX)\, Susanne Britz (DE)\, Liz Dawson (DE)\, Vivian Eckstein (DE)\, Cathy Ellis (US)\, Thilo Droste (DE)\, Saeed Foroghi (DE)\, Paola Gómez (MX)\, Nathalie Grenzhaeuser (DE)\, Harriet Groß (DE)\, Andrea J.
