DESCRIPTION:  \nFor the installation Like Always\, Roland Stratmann draws on his series of postcard images. The starting point are collected handwritten and stamped postcards from all over the world. Large-scale ink drawings with pictorial motifs of our media-influenced memories overlay the postcard conglomerate assembled into a tapestry. Stratmann combines messages and standard formulations filtered from the pool of collective messages with pictorial motifs detached from their original context. Symbols of intercultural misconceptions and interpretations emerge. \nIt is like always. As if we had not been away at all.  – an open message about acceptance and knowledge\, about truth and one’s own truths\, the lost paradise\, and one’s perception of it. \nRoland Stratmann studied at the Berlin University of the Arts. His works are shown in numerous national and international exhibitions. He lives and works in Berlin. \n___________ \nFür die Installation Like Always greift Roland Stratmann auf seine Werkreihe der Postkartenbilder zurück. Ausgangspunkt sind gesammelte handgeschriebene\, frankierte und abgestempelte Postkarten aus der ganzen Welt. Großflächige Tuschezeichnungen mit Bildmotiven unserer medial geprägten Erinnerung überlagern das zum Wandteppich zusammengefügte Postkartenkonvolut. Stratmann verbindet aus dem Pool der kollektiven Mitteilungen gefilterte Botschaften und Standardformulierungen mit den aus ihrem ursprünglichen Kontext herausgelösten Bildmotiven. Es entstehen Sinnbilder der interkulturellen Verkennungen und Interpretationen. \nIt is like always. As if we had not been away at all. (Es ist wie immer. Als ob wir gar nicht weg gewesen wären.) – eine offene Botschaft über Annahme und Erkenntnis\, über Wahrheit und eigene Wahrheiten\, das verlorene Paradies und seine Wahrnehmung darüber. \nRoland Stratmann studierte an der Universität der Künste Berlin. Seine Werke werden in zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Ausstellungen gezeigt. DESCRIPTION:Donnerstag\, den 1. September\, 19 Uhr. Vortrag von Prof. Dr. Markus Schrenk zur propriozeptiven Kunstrezeption mit anschließender Diskussion\, unter Einbezug der Ausstellung CONSTELLAR von Susanne Britz und Maja Rohwetter. \nPropriozeption (engl. Proprioception) ist die unbewusste Wahrnehmung der eigenen Bewegung\, Stellung\, Spannung\, Haltung des eigenen Körpers und seiner Lage im Raum. Sie wird auch als der 6. Sinn des Menschen bezeichnet. \nViele Kunstwerke sind vorwiegend visueller oder auditiver Natur. Einige Kunstwerke (wie z.B.Happenings\, Fluxus\, Performances) beziehen auch die Körperlichkeit des Publikums entscheidend mit ein und provozieren bewusst die Wahrnehmung des eigenen Körpers\, d. h. die Propriozeption und Interozeption der Kunst-Rezipient:innen:\nDiese Werke haben verstärkt die Wahrnehmung der eigenen Körperbewegung\, der Position im Raum\, des Gleichgewichts\, der Muskelspannung\, des Schmerzes\, der Temperatur\, des Energie- und Stressniveaus usw. zum Inhalt.\nWie propriozeptiv sind Susanne Britz‘ und Maja Rohwetters Werke? Finden wir in der Ausstellung CONSTELLAR neben dem rein visuellen Zugang auch einen interozeptiven zu den Installationen und Bildern? \nProf. Dr. Markus Schrenk lehrt an der Heinriich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf.\nSeine Lehr- und Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in der Metaphysik\, speziell in der Metaphysik der (Natur-)Wissenschaften und in der Wissenschafts- und Sprachphilosophie. Er hat zahlreiche Bücher und Aufsätze veröffentlicht (Metaphysics of Science\, Routledge 2016 / Handbuch Metaphysik\, Metzler 2017/ Naturgesetze\, De Gruyter 2020; mit Siegfried Jaag).\nSein jüngstes Projekt beschäftigt sich mit einem kunstphilosophischem Thema: Was ist propriozeptive Kunst?\nMit dem Wissenschaftskommunikations-Projekt denXte gewann er 2022 zusammen mit seinem Team den Communicator-Preis der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) und des Stifterverbandes. \nAufgrund der begrenzten Teilnahme wird um Anmeldung gebeten. DESCRIPTION:Ausstellung 20. August 2022 – 17. September 2022\n​\nDonnerstag\, den 1. September\, 19 Uhr\n„Body Languages of Art – die Wahrnehmung von Kunst als körperliches Phänomen“. Vortrag von Prof. Dr. Markus Schrenk zur propriozeptiven Kunstrezeption mit anschließender Diskussion. \nAusstellungsführungen am 27.08. und 10.09.2022\, 18–19 Uhr \n​Die Auseinandersetzung mit einer von Material überformten Gegenwart ist bei Susanne Britz und Maja Rohwetter Ausgangspunkt für eine prozesshafte Untersuchung\, welche die permanente Transformation zwischen analogen und digitalen\, zweidimensionalen und dreidimensionalen\, gegenständlichen wie abstrakten Bildwelten in den Blick nimmt. \nSusanne Britz überführt\, ausgehend von einem performativen Konzept der Zeichnung\, gerüsthafte Installationen von Alltagsgegenständen in Fotografien. Diese werden zur Folie für digitale Überzeichnungen\, die anschließend als Pigmentdrucke ausgeplottet und installativ präsentiert werden.\nIhre formelhafte Bildsprache verbindet heterogene Medien und Gegenstände unterschiedlichster Herkunft zu surrealen\, häufig bühnenhaft anmutenden Raumcollagen\, die als fragile und ergebnisoffene Versuchsanordnungen interpretierbar sind. \nAuch für Maja Rohwetter ist die Collage zentrales Bauprinzip ihrer malerischen Bildwelten. Hierbei überlagern sich verschiedene Medien und Entstehungszustände und das Bildmaterial durchläuft einen Medientransfer zwischen malerischem Fundstück\, Fotografie\, 3D-Modell und Print.\nIllusion wird zeitgleich behauptet und negiert\, indem Entstehung sichtbar und gleichzeitig infrage gestellt wird. Ihre kosmischen Komposition wirken instabil und energiegeladen. Bildelemente erscheinen eher wie Zustandsformen denn als feste Bildgefüge. \nDurch das Zusammenfügen und Kontrastieren verschiedener Darstellungs- als auch Bedeutungsebenen wird das Verhältnis zwischen Malerei\, Installation und Zeichnung als freiem Gestus und einer Form von Weltaneignung neu ausgelotet. \nSusanne Britz studierte Bildende Kunst\, Philosophie und Chemie von 1995 bis 2002 an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz mit einem anschließenden Vertiefungsstudium für Fotografie. Sie erhielt zahlreiche Stipendien für ihre medienübergreifende Arbeit (u.a. Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral\, Schloss Wiepersdorf\, Künstlerdorf Schöppingen) und bedeutende Auszeichnungen (z.B. Kunstpreis junger westen\, Losito Kunstpreis). Susanne Britz lebt und arbeitet seit 2005 in Berlin. \nMaja Rohwetter studierte Bildende Kunst an der Hochschule der Künste Berlin und am Royal College of Fine Arts\, Stockholm. Neben ihrer Malerei unterrichtet sie Mediendesign und Medientheorie und war guest lecturer u. a. An der HS Wismar und der Arctic University Tromsö. Ihre künstlerische Forschung an einem Bildbegriff\, der Seherfahrungen in Virtualität und Realität gleichermaßen einschließt\, konnte sie zuletzt mit einer Förderung des Bundesministeriums für Kultur und Medien vertiefen. Sie lebt seit 1995 in Berlin und ist seit 2011 Mitbetreiberin von Axel Obiger. \n

DESCRIPTION:(Please scroll down for English version ) \n  \nIst es Zufall? \noder\, \nist das Wesen der Wirklichkeit\, das was wir aus Myriaden von Möglichkeiten als Wirklichkeit schöpfen? \nAber\, es gibt Dinge die waren schon vor uns da\, \nes gibt Dinge – uns selber – \nwir sind wie Pflanzen wir wachsen und vergehen\, \nselbst Geschöpfe\, \nselbst nur eine Möglichkeit aus Myriaden. \n  \nA trans lädt ein\, sich dem Thema A Lost Paradise City in künstlerischen Modellen und Herangehensweisen zu nähern. Kuno M. Eberts vorwiegende Ausdrucksformen sind die Malerei und Keramik. Er entwickelte seine Malweise nach dem Studium in Abgeschiedenheit auf dem Land\, wo er über die Jahre den Ausstellungsort “ Kunsthalle Hilsbach” aufgebaut hat. Er ist aktives Mitglied in dem von Künstler*innen betriebenen Projektraum HilbertRaum in Berlin. \n  \n(The Dictatorship of Coincidence – Part V) \nIs it a coincidence? \nOr is the essence of reality\, \nThat which we create out of the myriads of possibilities? \nBut\, there are beings that were already there before us\, \nThere are beings – ourselves – \nWe are like plants we grow and pass away\, \nOurselves creatures\, \nOurselves simply a possibility out of a myriad. \nA trans invites you for a closer look into the artistic models and methods around the theme A Lost Paradise City. Kuno M. Ebert’s primary forms of expression are painting and ceramics. He developed his painting style living in seclusion in the countryside after his studies were finished\, where he over the years built up the exhibition space Kunsthalle Hilsbach. He is an active member of the artist-run project space HilbertRaum in Berlin.

Juli 2022 \nFROM THE ATHEN STORIES Maslowski|Grenzhaeuser\, Filmscreening am Freitag\, den 17.Juni\, ab 19 Uhr \nMaslowskiIGrenzhaeuser \n(English text below) \nIn ihrer gemeinsamen künstlerischen Arbeit setzen sich Minka Maslowski und Nathalie Grenzhaeuser mit Fragen zur menschlichen Identität und den kulturellen Rollenzuweisungen auseinander. Teil ihres Arbeitsprozesses ist es\, ihre Bilder selbst zu bespielen. MaslowskiIGrenzhaeuser treten dabei in unterschiedlichen Paarkonstellationen auf und agieren zugleich vor- als auch hinter der Kamera. Während dieser intensiven\, intim- performativen Sessions entstehen ihre Einzelbilder und mehrteiligen fotografischen als auch filmischen Sequenzen.\nBlitzlichtartig reißen sie dabei Szenen fiktiver Biografien auf. Daraufhin findet allerdings weder eine Ausformulierung statt\, noch wird eine Verortung preisgegeben; beleuchtet werden vielmehr die unterschiedlichen Facetten eines möglichen Seins. Die Künstlerinnen bezeichnen diese bruchstückhaften Erzählungen als „broken stories“. Als BetrachterIn kann man sich dabei als MitwisserIn zwischenmenschlicher Begegnungen erleben\, – dabei wird spürbar\, dass auch das Spiel mit der Zeugenschaft Dritter in den Arbeiten von MaslowskiIGrenzhaeuser wesentlich ist.\nMaslowskiIGrenzhaeuser studierten von 1991 bis 1997 an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste\, Städelschule\, Frankfurt am Main. Minka Maslowski bei Jörg Immendorf und Christa Näher. Nathalie Grenzhaeuser bei Hermann Nitsch. Gemeinsam schlossen sie als Meisterschülerinnen an der Hochschule ab und erhielten seitdem mehrere Stipendien\, 2000 von der Hessischen Kulturstiftung\, in deren Sammlung sie vertreten sind. Ihre fotografischen Performances sind Gegenstand regelmäßiger Ausstellungen. MaslowskiIGrenzhaeuser leben und arbeiten in Berlin und Frankfurt am Main. \nEnglish text \nMaslowskiIGrenzhaeuser has been an artist duo since 1993. DESCRIPTION:Tracing Roots\nFeriel Bendjama \n08.04. – 17.04.2022 \nOpening: Friday\, 08.04.2022\, 18 – 22 h \nFeriel Bendjama untersucht in Tracing Roots die komplexe Herkunft ihrer Familie\, und den kontinuierlichen Vorgang des Verwurzelns. Die mehrteilig konzipierte Ausstellung vermittelt einen Einblick in das diasporische Leben einer Familie zwischen Algerien\, der DDR und Westdeutschland. \nIm ersten Teil der Ausstellung liegt der Fokus auf alte Familienfotografien. Feriel Bendjama sammelte alte private Polaroids\, fotografierte diese neu\, bearbeitete\, vergrößerte und arrangierte sie in einem neuen Kontext. Die überwiegend aus den 80er-Jahren stammenden Fotografien dokumentieren ein Leben zwischen drei Welten. Aufnahmen in Farbe zeigen typische Alltagsszenen wie Familientreffen\, Feste\, Ausflüge und Kinder. Die Fotos thematisieren Aspekte des Erinnerns\, nostalgische Empfindungen und sind ein Abbild von gelebter kultureller Diversität. \nDer zweite Teil widmet sich Landschaftsfotografien und flüchtigen Momentaufnahmen aus Algerien\, welche Feriel Bendjama während Ihrer Reisen aufnahm. Bendjama fotografierte im Vorbeifahren vom Auto aus\, die Landschaften\, die an ihr vorbeirauschten. Die Fotografien reflektieren die Fluidität des Verwurzelns. \nFeriel Bendjamas Arbeiten behandeln verschiedene Fragestellungen wie die Wahrnehmung hybrider Identitäten\, die Fragilität zwischenmenschlicher Beziehungen und die eigene Definition von Zugehörigkeit. \nFeriel Bendjamas wurde 1980 nahe Dresden geboren. Sie ist zwischen Offenbach am Main und Algerien aufgewachsen und lebt seit 2003 in Berlin. Aktuelle Themenschwerpunkte ihrer Foto- und Videoarbeiten sind kulturelle und religiöse Identitäten. \nFeriel Bendjama examines in Tracing Roots the complex origins of her family and the ongoing process of rooting. The multi-part exhibition provides an insight into the diasporic life of a family between Algeria\, the GDR and West Germany. \nThe first part of the exhibition focuses on old family photographs. Feriel Bendjama collected old private Polaroids\, re-photographed them\, edited them\, enlarged them and arranged them in a new context. The photographs\, most of which date from the 1980s\, document life between three worlds. Color shots show typical everyday scenes such as family reunions\, parties\, trips and children. The photos address aspects of remembering\, nostalgic feelings and are an image of lived cultural diversity. \nThe second part is dedicated to landscape photographs and fleeting snapshots from Algeria\, which Feriel Bendjama photographed during her travels. Februar 2022 (Donnerstag) 19:00 Uhr\nDer Workshop findet unter 2G+Regeln statt \nBESCHREIBUNG \nDie aktuelle Ausstellung „un-structured“ bei Axel Obiger wird begleitet von einem Workshop.\nUnter der Überschrift „Sol LeWitt’s „Open Cubes““ erkunden die Teilnehmer*innen im Rahmen des Workshops die Skulptur des Künstlers am Halleschen Ufer in Berlin-Kreuzberg. \nDer US-amerikanische Künstler Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) bezeichnet seine minimalistischen Arbeiten nicht als Skulpturen\, sondern als „Strukturen“. Seine Würfelstruktur von 1993 am Halleschen Ufer in Berlin-Kreuzberg nimmt mit dem gestalterischen Baustein des Würfels Bezug auf die quadratischen Fenster der Hausfassade des Familiengerichts. Im Gegensatz zur Architektur bleibt die vermeintlich statische Arbeit LeWitts dynamisch. Mit jeder Bewegung des Betrachtenden verändert sich die Struktur des Würfels. Der Künstler nennt solche Strukturen „Open cubes“\, denn sie fragen nach einer vervollständigenden Geste durch die Art und Weise wie das Auge und der Geist des Betrachtenden mit der Struktur interagieren. \nIm Workshop\, der für jung und alt konzipiert ist\, nähern sich die Teilnehmer*innen dem Strukturprinzip des Künstlers vor Ort spielerisch und zurück im Ausstellungsraum über eine eigene kreative Arbeit. \nAufgrund der begrenzten Teilnahme (8 Personen) wird um Anmeldung gebeten. Sometimes the question involves a confrontation and we can only hope that we will be able to come up with something. \nLothar Frenz claims in his book „Nashörner. Ein Porträt.“ that this animal appears again and again in the history of art when a new age is in the making. \nIn the light and sound installation by Concha Argüeso sited in Zoologischer Garten vitrine\, we come face-to-face with the drawing of a stampeding rhinoceros. The illuminated animal shows its beautiful skin made of wax\, while at the same time making sounds. The rhinoceros seems to be in a hurry to jump from the past into the future. \nBut is it afraid\, is it angry? DESCRIPTION:Aufgrund der aktuellen Covid-Situation konnten die US-Künstler von Tiger Strikes Asteroid (Los Angeles) nicht zum für Dezember geplanten Austauschprojekt „BY EAR“ anreisen. \nDie Ausstellung „seit wir letztens über zukunft sprachen“ mit Werken von Juliane Duda und Hanna-Mari Blencke wird jetzt bis zum 22. Januar 2022 (mit einer Winterpause vom 20. Dezember 2021 bis 12. Januar 2022) zu sehen sein.\nFür einen Besuch gelten die aktuellen Corona-Auflagen. Eine Übersicht der Regeln gibt es hier. \nÖffnungszeiten:\nDo-Fr\, 15–19 Uhr. Sa\, 14–19 Uhr und nach Vereinbarung.

DESCRIPTION:Black Hole \nEva Pedroza \n3.12.-12.12.2021 \nOpening: Friday 3.12.2021 17-21 h \nSunday 12.12. 17 h: Performance by Rosanna Graf with Gosia Lehmann \nFor her first solo exhibition at HilbertRaum\, Eva Pedroza is presenting 10 works from her new eponymously-titled series\, Black hole\, as well as watercolour paintings from her ongoing animation project Tako Tsubo – a collaboration with author Fanny Sorgo which started in 2017. \nThe Black hole works comprise a series of 10 ink drawings on paper\, and one large-scale digital print. Dramatizing zoomed-in\, intimate encounters\, an interweaving of darkness and light reveals bodies engaged in sex as much as mutual strangulation. Pedroza’s handling of positive and negative space creates a sense of movement. These bodies are spilling past an event horizon – toward a singularity bereft of pain\, where an intimate connection between living beings is nevertheless possible. \nThe paradoxes implied by singularity are intuitively recast by these ambiguous forms. The figures depicted intertwine\, dissolve\, and find their own autonomous rhythm at the cusp of drops of black ink. Pedroza’s chosen medium points back to the presence of the artist\, whose subconscious and intuition filters into these swirling bodies. \nTako Tsubo also reflects on our instinctual need for darkness. These watercolor on paper works\, with their striking color schemes and narrative qualities\, became used as frames for a stop-motion animation video made in collaboration with Fanny Sorgo. Several scenes depict Ham\, the protagonist of the series\, holding his own heart\, which he cuts out to lessen the burden of emotions. Despite undergoing this surgery intentionally\, he finds himself frequenting a dark forest where a hole delineates where his heart once was. The mingling of stillness and vacuum-like tranquility that Ham seeks out corresponds to the fate of Pedroza’s ink figures\, silently pushing past the limits of the known universe. \nIn both series\, Pedroza deals with Nothingness not in a negative sense\, but as a quiet place which is essential for growth: … on every occasion when the state of a thing is altered\, then the abyss of Nothingness is spanned and made visible for a mystic instant\, for nothing can change without making contact with that region of absolute being which the oriental mystics call Nothingness…1 In this way\, the works on view\, whether colorful or black and white\, encourage viewers to look past the limits of their perception toward what might exist outside our human condition. Always opening\, expanding\, new channels of water emerging\, ramifying\, opening up and merging again. A flowing network of expanding and simultaneously constricting edges. \nMemories\, like subterranean rivers\, irrigate life from below. They communicate in silent language. They infiltrate their whispers through the earth reaching to our bones. \n‚Invocations of Remembrance‘ is a video performative journey alongside magical objects. Evoking sacred objects across time and space\, they are inhabited by underground rivers and mountains. You meet the Portal. You enter the womb. \nWe meet in a space that alters between a gallery\, a temple\, a theatre\, a bar\, and a living room\, as it’s rules withstand any kinds of defintions. Here they find and observe each other\, they study their ways\,techniques and their relationship. As a result they offer us a universe of reinterpretations. Their work accounts for the forces of the collective\, for the importance of one Other\, who would help us rediscover and thus resignify ourselves. Always.\nBecause there are no isolated points in space\, but an infinite network of relationships. And from each encounter results a possibility of new hybrids that refuse to be crystalized in a permanent form.\nThis dialogue is ephemeral. Small scenarios and visual performances\, self-portraits\, compositions with objects\, light and shadows\, colors and shapes became a form of expression that synthesizes who she is. \nJustina Leston www.instagram.com/jusleston – www.justinaleston.com \nJustina Leston is a visual artist that works with analog and digital photography. Her work is full of mundane\, absurd and arbitrary things that emphasize error\, humor and beauty. In this opportunity she is presenting Ukrainian urban landscapes\, snapshots of her life in Berlin and a first approach to installation. \nLucía Szych www.instagram.com/lu_s_z/ – luciaszych.com \nVisual artist. Through drawings and installations she tries to grasp the space that surrounds us. Her work predominantly deals with traces\, she is intrigued by capturing minimal moments to reflect on time\, memory and fragility.
